History

The story of Marble Construction starts back in December 2007. Stuart Wyeth, Darren Maunders and Luke Maunders decided to start a joint venture called Marble Construction Ltd. We were all close friends/family before the company was created and after many years of toying with the idea, we finally decided to build our future.

In the beginning…

The company name was chosen as the product ‘marble’ is a solid, raw product that is found in a natural state from the earth. This product can be chipped and shaped and with enough care, time and attention to detail, this product can be polished and made into something beyond incredible. These were and will continue to be our basic key principals in our business and in everything we do in life.

We want the best for everyone, we want to deliver the best products and services and over time, want to be known as the best building company in England.

We started the first year as Marble Construction by building extremely challenging double storey extensions. These extensions, the ones that other builders were reluctant to take on, suddenly became our market.

Growth in the construction industry requires the best people

We grew quickly and employed key people for different areas of the business that needed attention:  areas such as research and development, project management, quality management, procurement and sales, not to mention the ten guys we have that work alongside Darren and Luke on our different building sites on a daily basis.

In 2009, we started talking to the Construction Industry Training Bureau (CITB) about their apprenticeship scheme and decided that we were going to grow our building teams in-house instead of trying to work with builders to whom we would sub contract.

Over the course of 2009 we employed four apprentices, each apprentice being in a different year and trade. This way we can incorporate our own on-site business best practices and systems into their training alongside their NVQ course.

The college is extremely excited about how we want to work with them over the next 10 years and they are already searching their database for the next five people we aim to support next year.

We have huge dreams for all our apprentices in the future but we will ensure that we will only grow Marble Construction at a steady pace that never compromises the quality of our work.

Taking investment

In September 2009, Fubra Limited, owned by Brendan Mcloughlin, Paul Maunders and Joe Mcloughlin became a 10% shareholder of Marble Construction Ltd. This investment allowed us to expand the marketing side of the business and allowed us to invest in both our sister companies, Marble Electrical Ltd and Marble Plumbing Ltd.

In October 2009, we decided to re brand the Marble Construction logo and company image before we designed this website and got the vans sign written.

Investing in others – The Marble Group

In November 2009, Marble Construction Ltd and Samuel Thomas, a good, long term friend of Stuart Wyeth, decided to start Marble Electrical Ltd. This decision was made due to Sam’s ethos and amazing experience within the electrical industry. With Sam’s eight year experience, we are all really looking forward to a great future together. Sam is NIC NEC and Part P Certified.

In December 2009, Marble Construction Ltd and Michael Wyeth, brother of Stuart Wyeth, decided to start Marble Plumbing Ltd. We were using Michael’s old company MJ Plumbing and Heating Ltd to do all of our heating installations before but now everything will be done under the same umbrella. Michael is Corgi Registered, Gas Safe Registered and is undertaking his solar safe qualification.
